GOLF

BILL WADSWORTH, Branch 174, Chairman

925-963-0442; e-mail:  wadsy1@aol.com

The SIR Lamorinda golf program is clearly one of the most active and popular activities offered by Branch 174.  We currently have over 60 active members from both SIR Branches 174 and 171.

We play a minimum of 30 tournaments, on Mondays, throughout the entire year at over 20 courses located within a 45 minute drive from the Lamorinda area.  Our member handicaps range from 5 to a maximum of 36.  We play individual and team play events with prizes awarded to the top three finishers in each of four seeded flights, low gross score and closest to the pin on selected par three holes.  Each golfer only pays for the games he plays as well as a nominal fee collected at the beginning of each year which is then distributed as prize money as well as to establish NCGA indexes and handicaps.  We have a Club Championship Match as well as take part in Area and Division qualifying tournaments for SIR state championships and matches against other SIR branches in the area.
